Yes, by shell, or you can send it in asterisk cli:
gsm send sms <channel> <destination> <message>

I don't have asterisk in this server.
I use it only for nagios notifications... :Q

Why not?
Right now i use some smstools + old Nokia Phones and have to choose some replacement.
But for me, ther whould be a superb if some GSMmodem emulator (only stuff needed to send sms!) whould be provided.

Having to script asterisk box for sending sms, when i've got many logic with implemented current tools ( http://smstools.meinemullemaus.de/ or http://smstools3.kekekasvi.com/ ) is a Headake.

Have anyone tried to compare speed for sending sms, or this is just an additional feaute that's only in PDF, noone from OpenVox seems to have a try on comparsion of 4 nokias to G400P.
BTW: if i have a GSM channel busy with voice call, i can't send sms by this channel, right?
